Sam's 300-room hotel
An illustrative story. The people and companies in it are fictional.
- Hundreds of similar units Sam leads maintenance for a 300-room hotel. Every room has its own heating and cooling unit, and the back of house runs boilers, laundry and kitchen equipment.
- Rounds by scan His technicians scan each unit as they work, so readings, filter changes and repairs land on that unit's record, never its neighbor's.
- A guest reports, no account A guest finds the room's unit blowing warm air. They tap its secure tag; the page shows only “Room 207” and a way to report the problem, and the verified tap shows the report came from the room, not from a copied link. The report reaches Sam's team, tied to the exact unit.
- Outside specialists on the same record When the kitchen-equipment vendor or the boiler contractor visits, they record their work against the same assets, under their own authorization.
- Staff change, knowledge stays When a long-serving engineer retires, what he knew about the building's quirks is already in the equipment records.
