Field technicians

Know what you are standing in front of

No more squinting at faded labels, digging through paperwork in the truck or calling the office to ask what was done last time. Scan the ServiceTag and the equipment's identity, its history and your colleagues' notes are in your hand.

ServiceTagPro is in development; this page describes how it is designed to work for you.

Tell us about your crew Read the story

A ServiceTag is a small NFC tag on the equipment: no battery, no internet connection, nothing private stored on it, and read by the phone you already carry. New to NFC? Start here

Alice in March, Bob in November

An illustrative story. The people and companies in it are fictional.

  1. March Alice services a furnace in a basement she has never seen. She scans the tag, records her readings, replaces the igniter and adds a photo and a note about the flue.
  2. November Bob is sent to the same address. He has never been there either. He scans the tag and sees Alice's readings, the igniter replacement, her photo and her note.
  3. No signal in the basement Because his phone synchronized his company's records before he left, Bob can still read the history and record his own work. It uploads when he is back in coverage.
  4. Whoever comes next The next technician, from the same company or, with the owner's authorization, a different one, starts from what Alice and Bob left behind.
  5. Hand it over before you leave After the work, Alice shows the customer the branded tag and asks them to try a scan. They see where to reach the service company again, even if an invoice is lost or a contact disappears from their phone.

What you gain

Instant identification

Make, model, serial number and location from one scan, without hunting for a label.

History from your whole team

Readings, repairs, parts, photos and notes recorded by colleagues on earlier visits.

Works without signal

Records your company has synchronized stay usable offline, and your work uploads when you reconnect.

Record work where it happens

Findings, measurements and photos are recorded against the exact unit and attributed to you.

Only what you need to see

You see the equipment your company is authorized to service, and nothing it is not.

The phone you already carry

The ServiceTagPro app runs on the Android phone you already use for work, your own or one your company issued. No separate scanner.

When things change

Planned continuity: these examples describe the contact updates, authorized handovers and guest access we are building.

What if I am the visiting contractor and do not use ServiceTagPro?

A planned guest portal will let the customer or an authorized manager send you an email invitation for the job. Verify that invitation to review the history shared with you and record your work in an online browser session, without an app or ServiceTagPro account.

Good to know

Start with the basics, then open only the detail you need.

  • NFC tags

    New to NFC? Start here

What NFC tags are, how your phone already uses NFC, and which tag style to choose for indoor, outdoor or metal equipment.

  • NFC tags

NFC privacy: what is actually on the tag?

Why the tag needs no battery or internet connection, how the phone powers it, and what another person can learn by scanning it.

Bring ServiceTagPro to your crew

ServiceTagPro is set up by service companies for their teams. If you would like your company to join the early pilot, tell us about it, or pass this page to your service manager.

Email us hello@servicetagnfc.com

A commercial product. ServiceTagPro is for organizations: your company signs up for a ServiceTagPro account, and your team signs in with their own ServiceTagPro accounts. Customers and tenants can request help without an app or a ServiceTagPro signup. Invited contractors will be able to use the planned guest portal without joining a company workspace.
